Climate Pollution Reduction Grant Update for West Michigan

From Planning to Progress: Advancing West Michigan’s Climate Goals

With funding from the Inflation Reduction Act through the U.S. EPA’s Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG), KERAMIDA partnered with the Grand Valley Metropolitan Council (GVMC) to develop and submit the Priority Climate Action Plan (PCAP) earlier this year.

The PCAP sets the foundation for a comprehensive regional strategy, connecting state, regional, and local efforts while focusing on equity and the unique needs of Ionia, Kent, Montcalm, and Ottawa Counties.

Our technical working groups and project team have since been hard at work identifying reduction measures, setting targets, and developing actionable steps to help the region achieve its climate goals.

Looking ahead, KERAMIDA and GVMC will continue collaborating on the Comprehensive Climate Action Plan (CCAP), scheduled for submission to the EPA in 2025. This plan will serve as a detailed roadmap for GHG reduction measures, workforce planning, and community benefits, ensuring a sustainable and inclusive future for the region.

Keep an eye out for opportunities to engage in 2025, including the launch of our Community Ambassador Program, which will amplify community voices in the plan.
