KERAMIDA was retained by Algaewheel to assist in gaining regulatory approval for Algaewheel’s patented process of treating wastewater with algae for accomplishing two important goals:

  1. Treat wastewater with significantly less energy requirements than current technologies, offering significant cost reduction and CO2 credit opportunities; and

  2. Generate biofuels from the algae generated as part of the wastewater treatment process without the cost of cultivating algae.

Project Details:

Algaewheel promotes a sustainable treatment model that addresses water pollution and supports local water security. A key requirement for the success of the Algaewheel process was to demonstrate its ability to treat wastewater to acceptable levels comparable to those obtained by conventional technologies.

  • KERAMIDA developed the experimental protocol for process validation which was applied to a full-time pilot plant built by Algaewheel.

  • KERAMIDA provided engineering analysis of the process data generated by the full-time Algaewheel pilot plant.

  • KERAMIDA developed the engineering format of the data highlighting the accomplishments of the treatment process, which was presented to the regulatory agency. The approval is pending.
