Algaewheel® Sustainable Wastewater Treatment Regulatory Approval
Overview:
KERAMIDA was retained by Algaewheel to assist in gaining regulatory approval for Algaewheel’s patented process of treating wastewater with algae for accomplishing two important goals:
Treat wastewater with significantly less energy requirements than current technologies, offering significant cost reduction and CO2 credit opportunities; and
Generate biofuels from the algae generated as part of the wastewater treatment process without the cost of cultivating algae.
Project Details:
Algaewheel promotes a sustainable treatment model that addresses water pollution and supports local water security. A key requirement for the success of the Algaewheel process was to demonstrate its ability to treat wastewater to acceptable levels comparable to those obtained by conventional technologies.
KERAMIDA developed the experimental protocol for process validation which was applied to a full-time pilot plant built by Algaewheel.
KERAMIDA provided engineering analysis of the process data generated by the full-time Algaewheel pilot plant.
KERAMIDA developed the engineering format of the data highlighting the accomplishments of the treatment process, which was presented to the regulatory agency. The approval is pending.
