Our Facility Decommissioning, Demolition, and Repurpose Services:

KERAMIDA specializes in serving as general contractor for full turnkey decommissioning and demolition services. In addition, we serve as general contractor for rebuilding or bringing a facility back to current codes.

As part of our turnkey solutions, KERAMIDA provides services for the decommissioning and demolition or repurposing of facilities, such as power plants and commercial, manufacturing and industrial facilities. In order to save our clients both time and money, we identify the steps associated with decommissioning and demolition early in the process based on the proposed end use of the property - whether it is complete demolition, partial demolition, or rebuilding for repurposing.

Based upon our extensive project experience in all phases of the deactivation and decommissioning process, we have developed an innovative and cost-effective phased approach that saves both time and money, and ensures a successful Facility Decommissioning project.

Phase I - Facility Assessment

The Facility Assessment is designed to gain a thorough understanding of the historical and current operations of the facility, while simultaneously identifying the client's objectives for the facility and property. Based upon this information, KERAMIDA will:

  • Determine the current regulatory status of the facility and proposed end use of the property

  • Conduct Phase I/II investigations, as needed, to identify and characterize hazardous materials, asbestos-containing materials, lead-based paint, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and universal and e-waste to ensure property management and disposal in accordance with state and federal regulations

  • Identify environmental concerns from historical operations or spills and the potential for off-site impacts. Determine the facility's regulatory/permitting closure needs based on state and federal regulations

  • Design and development of required plans/specifications

  • Scoping of project-closure plans

  • Health and Safety Planning ›

  • Bidding, as required

  • Permitting, as required

  • End-use evaluations including potential Brownfields applicability

  • Development of cost budgets

  • Asset management evaluation, including scrap value and equipment inventory, and value for reuse
