EPA Releases 2025 Emission Factors Hub Update: Key Changes for Accurate GHG Reporting

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has released the 2025 update to its Emission Factors Hub, an essential resource widely used for calculating greenhouse gas emissions. This comprehensive update, published in January 2025, reflects the latest data and methodologies to ensure organizations can accurately measure and report their environmental impact.

This year’s update includes revisions to emission factors for purchased electricity, leveraging updated data from eGRID. Mobile combustion emissions, upstream and downstream transportation, business travel, and employee commuting have also been updated to provide more precise calculations.

The EPA EF Hub is even more useful with this year's providing grid gross loss percentages for each eGRID subregion, now featured in Table 6. These new factors enable organizations to calculate Scope 3, Category 3 C emissions related to transmission and distribution (T&D) losses.

You can view the latest version of the Emission Factors Hub and previous editions directly from the link below. This ensures you have the tools to adapt to these changes and remain on top of your sustainability reporting.
